Hard work and dedication are just two of the attributes you need to be a great keeper, the others will be drilled into you with great coaching.

The Pro-1 Goalkeeping Academy is a great place to be a member if you want to be a great keeper. Once again I had the pleasure of photographing some of the elite members of this fantastic academy. Great work guys and well done Dean for the best you bring out in these guys.

Just like most people with thier individual skills, my love of photography started as a hobby and I like to take a small 'time-out' once in a while to keep the fun and hobby element going, after all, all work and no play gets pretty tedious.

So, I took an evening off and decided to photograph something I have always found interesting - smoke. Smoke trails are susceptable to any movemoent or slight breeze, and it can create the most fantastic patterns, which are great to photograph. I set up a small backdrop, configured my off-camera flash, added a reading lamp, and set light to a incense stick. I took around 40 shots and, once I was happy with what I had, I transferred them to the computer and began to edit them; these are just a few of the finished results, I hope you like them.

Invited along for a shoot with the lads on a chilly October saturday morning to see the dedication and commitment of both Dean and his keepers was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. Always positive and hard working, these groups are energizing and motivating - I love spending time with these groups.

I've always admired great architecture and, during a recent visit to Southend, I took the camera along the pier to capture the essence of the workmanship that's gone into this historic structure.

Few people realise the history of the pier - for example, the pier today is not the original pier, which was built entirely of wood, but a replacement, built alongside the original, so it's not even in the original location.

This pier has been vandalised, crashed into many times, set fire to and heaven knows what else, however it still stands, after many renovations, for the pleasure of those wishing to walk out to sea without getting their feet wet - it's glorious and I love it!
